Feeling the winter blues yet? This month has been such a rough month. Am lacking motivation and feeling very melancholic due to the lack of sun. But I've been somewhat motivated to start planning a summer vacay. I miss the sun and going to the beach ( Im going crazy, literally). The constant feeling of dullness and dragging myself to do everyday chores. Must admit, I've hit rock bottom. What are your traveling plans for 2012? Any exotic destination? Artist Pharrell hosted a documentary about the aftermath of the earthquake in Japan early this year. He ventures home and interviews his close friends about the effects of the earthquake. These 5 very interesting web series surfaced internet-land moments ago. After watching this, i've really gotten an insight of the Japanese people and their culture.

We all try to say the right things. But the unfortunate truth is racism is no longer in a contrast of black and white. We got racism here living, within our own people/ race. This goes back to slavery. When skin color was used to separate and determined one's perks and advantages within the black community.
I do relate with these girls. Being a dark-skin, i've gotten some crazy so called "compliments" about my skin color. Interestingly, i've gotten far more nicer compliments from other races than from my own race.
Being surrounded by female family members who went to the extreme of skin bleaching. In addition to societies standards of beauty. One could only imagine the pressure to fall into the same route.
A conversation with close friend of mine, who btw is from Iraq. She told me about her first encountering experience of racism. Even for her, a middle-eastern, experience the same old bias attitude towards different shades of skin color.

The documentary embarks on the constant contradictions within the black community regarding especially dark-skin girls.
